The next era
Courtney Radcliffe is hired as the foundation’s executive director, ushering in a new and modern era for the organization.
New leadership
Bob Albritton is appointed president of the foundation in 2000. Bob serves the organization for 20 years, until he retires in December 2020.
Expanding partnerships
University of Texas at Arlington and Texas Woman’s University are added as MIG’s partner institutions, bringing the total to 6 schools.
Honoring a legacy
Mary I. Gourley passes away in July 1994. To honor her, the MIG Foundation was from then on referred to as the Mary I. Gourley Scholarship Foundation.
MIG takes shape
Frank Turrella (Frances’ husband and Mary’s son-in-law) renames the organization the MIG Scholarship Foundation — officialized on February 20, 1988.
Foundation becomes official
Frances Turrella (Mary’s daughter) creates the GLWJ Foundation — officialized on April 16, 1985.
Generosity begins
Mary learns about three students who are struggling to make ends meet as they are attending college. Mary generously pays for their schooling.
